ALBANY, GA -- The Recreation and Parks Department is collecting toys and other items for the annual Mayor's Motorcade.

The motorcade began over 50 years ago.

It's a way for municipalities to donate to their local mental health hospital, since patients don't have much contact with outside family.

Donations will go to Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.

And it's not just toys on their lists.

“Any kind of personal care products like nice soaps and shampoos. Games, puzzles, art supplies, stationery and stamps,” says Kristin Caso with the Recreation and Parks Department.

You can drop off donations at their headquarters in Tift Park.

Other drop off locations include the Thronateeska Heritage Center and the mayor's office on the fifth floor of the Government Center.

They will be collecting donations through Tuesday, December 6th.
