Latest news, weather and high school sports for Albany and Southwest Georgia

ALBANY, GA -- Dorothy Hubbard will be attending the fourth and final session of the Georgia Academy for Economic Development course on Tuesday, November 29th from 8:30AM to 4:00PM.  She was nominated, as a community leader, to participate in this program that began in September focused on Region 10.  The location is 30 W. Broad St., Camilla, Georgia.

The Academy's multi-day regional program provides participants with an understanding of the complexities of economic and community development, and tools to assist in the development of their region. The program, through a variety of defined activities, takes an in-depth review of possible economic development opportunities and strategies.

The program provides crucial leadership training as well, in such areas as consensus building, team development, and other critical skills.

Hubbard had the following thoughts about the course:  “The need to work together as a region has been validated through this process. To bring jobs, improve education and collaborate for the greater good we must reach beyond our own county lines. I have established some great relationships for future partnering in growing Albany and the southwest Georgia area. It’s a great opportunity to see our region in a new and different way. The attendees that represent Albany can immediately begin using the practical knowledge and information shared to bring change and fresh ideas to the forefront. I am excited to be a part of this initiative.”
