ALBANY, GA -- The Albany Fire Department responded early Wednesday afternoon to a residential fire at an abandoned home in the 600 block of First Avenue.

Fire officials say nearly 90 percent of the house was in flames but that they managed to get in under control in about six minutes.

"It was extremely hot because it had time to burn, and it's an old house, lighter wood it burns really hot, so it was pretty hot but we got it under control in a relatively quick amount of time so it went well. No one got hurt; everyone is going home to enjoy the holiday," says Captain Robert Taylor with the Albany Fire Department.

Investigators say they are still looking into a cause of the blaze. They say it could be Monday before they know.
