ALBANY, GA. -- Stuffing yourself with turkey this Thanksgiving may cause you to sleep but the stress leading up to it may cause you to lose sleep.

For Thursday's Facebook story of the day FOX 31 fans wanted to know how they can deal with insomnia.

According to "How to Beat Insomnia.com" doctors advise against taking sleeping pills  because after a while they tend to break down the body's natural sleep cycle, making sleep more difficult in the long run.

Sleep disorder experts say while too much caffeine, TV and cell phone use can cause insomnia so can certain situations and stress.

"One of the more common things is situational insomnia which is something either positive or negative that can interfere with your ability to sleep. you just won the lottery -- you're not going to be able to sleep that night. you have a death in the family -- you're not going to be able to sleep," says Dr. Christopher Mann, Medical Director of Phoebe Sleep Disorder  Center.

If you feel as though you are suffering from insomnia, experts say call a doctor first to find out the best way to handle the issue. They say the main risk of untreated insomnia is daytime sleepiness – the chance of getting in an accident is higher.

Methods such as acupuncture, reflexology, and even hypnosis have been known to help insomnia patients sleep.

Remedies such as herbal drinks, and teas can also be used help the body relax.
