ALBANY, GA -- AmeriCorps cadets were braved the cold Saturday morning, hoping others would lend a hand.
They were out in front of the Winn Dixie on Old Dawson Road and also at the east Albany Walmart, encouraging shoppers to get a few extra canned goods while they were inside shopping.
“This food is gonna be donated to the food bank and we're also gonna donate it to Mount Zion Church to those who are less fortunate in not having any food this Thanksgiving, we're gonna donate this food to them,” says Cadet Ashley Fleming.
They will also be collecting canned goods next Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Center for Community Day.
