ALBANY, GA -- It is a project six years in the making, and on Monday, Albany Technical College cut the ribbon for their new Career Development Center.

The building will house the Career Services division of the college that assists students and graduates in pursuing employment.

The new center has a state-of-the-art computer lab featuring 30 computers and 10 computer kiosks for developing print and digital resumes. Career Services says rooms that they did not have before will help with planned resume writing, portfolio creation and interview workshops.

Albany Tech officials say this building will help not only students but employers and the community as well.

“The employers have an opportunity to have a place to interview students, to actually tell the student what they want, to actually have input into what we do, we have interview rooms and we want our employers to help with mock interviews,” says Albany Tech President Dr. Anthony Parker.

The Career Development Center is the former agriculture building that belonged to the Dougherty County Commission. President Dr. Anthony Parker says no state bonds were used to pay for it; it was all done with local money.

Albany Tech’s Career Services conducts quarterly follow-ups on graduates and employees to ensure Albany Tech is achieving its educational objectives in workforce development.
