ALBANY, GA. -- Officers with the Albany Police Department pulled together to provide children with a safe alternative for Halloween.

Crime Dog McGruff waved kids in off the streets to trick-or-treat with police.

Children were given candy and other goodies as they learned a few crime prevention tips.

“We involved the AmeriCorps cadets and they have set up different tables with different themes regarding stranger danger and gun safety,” said Albany Police Media Relations Specialist Phyllis Banks.

Albany’s gang unit came out as well. The event lasted until eight o'clock.
