ALBANY, GA -- Water Gas & Light took in some good news Thursday morning. Board members got an update from the Electric Cities of Georgia.

They're a consulting group that looks at how utility companies throughout the state stack up. Officials say the rates at Water Gas & Light are some of the best in the state.

“The past two summers have been extremely hot and the past two winters have been extremely cold and the meters have been turning very fast and the bills may have been higher then they expecting, but I am here to tell them that if they were on Georgia Power, which most of the people in the state are on, they would have paid a whole lot more,” said John Lansing of Electric Cities of Georgia.

Officials say the data can be used as a benchmark to determine future rate and policy changes.
