ALBANY, GA -- Albany's gang unit says gang activity has calmed down after a major sweep of the Crips gang two months ago. They gave an update at the gang task force meeting Thursday afternoon.

But they say business may be getting ready to pick up as the holiday season approaches.

“We've always experienced an increase in robberies this time of the year, so we wanted to let the community to know to just be on lookout. We do have gang members in the community and a lot of these acts could be committed by gang members,” said Capt. Wendy Luster.

The gang unit says they've noticed more confiscated guns recently. Many of those weapons are high end -- like assault rifles used by swat teams and shotguns used in the military.
