ALBANY, GA -- The Albany State University College of Business will present the Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP) Oct. 18-19. The highlight of the program, the Business Lecture Series, will be held on Oct. 18 at 11:15 a.m. in Peace Hall room 127. All visiting professionals will address ASU faculty, staff and students in that session. Other program activities will be held in various classrooms throughout Peace Hall.
This year ASU’s BEEP visiting professors include Andre’ Kennebrew, the Senior Human Resource Consultant of the Chick-fil-A headquarters in Atlanta; Lilly Vickers, director of Sales for UPS’s North Florida District in Jacksonville, Fl.; and Sherry Reaves, the budget and financial management director for the U.S. Forest Service’s Southern Region based in Atlanta.
The program will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18 with an orientation. At 8:30 a.m. Maurice Elliard, assistant professor of marketing, will lead a session entitled “Man to Man” in Peace Hall room 121 for all male participants. Also at that time, Dr. Cynthia Bennett, professor of business information systems; and Dr. Sandra Washington, assistant professor of healthcare management, will lead a session entitled “Woman to Woman” in Peace Hall room 123 for female participants.
Beginning at 9:50 a.m. the visiting BEEP professionals will speak to students in the Fundamentals of College Success classes. Afternoon activities include mock interviews to be held by visiting professionals from 2:05 to 3:30 in Peace Hall rooms 104, 106 and 201.
BEEP is a voluntary partnership between the University, the National Urban League, corporate America and government. BEEP's mission is to share learning experience across generations, cultivate new leaders, and inspire achievements through committed involvement and operational excellence.
BEEP was established in 1969 through a grant from the Ford Foundation and is the National Urban League’s oldest signature program. BEEP's roster includes business executives, as well as other highly trained business professionals. Equipped with hands-on experience, BEEP participants serve as visiting professors and conduct networking sessions, career workshops, and mock job interviews.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, the program will continue at 9 a.m. with BEEP professionals visiting the classrooms and speaking to students until 12:30 p.m. The program will conclude with a luncheon and presentation by all of the BEEP professionals in Peace Hall 121 from 12:40 to 2 p.m.
