ALBANY, GA -- More than 150 people turned out this year for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The three mile walk moved to Downtown Albany this year. The goal was to raise money for Alzheimer’s research and awareness.

"There are a lot of diseases out there & Alzheimer’s is one of them that does not have a cure yet. This is what the Alzheimer's Association is for; awareness, support and research to fight this dreadful disease," said Chairperson of the walk, Evie Carver.

Last year the walk raised about $38,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association this year they expect to bring in more than $55,000.

And more people were walking for a good cause at the Veranda. This was the Heart Walk for the American Heart Association.

Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States according to the Center for Disease Control.

This year officials say they have raised more than 50-thousand dollars for the American Heart Association.
