The federal government mandates that there be a certain amount of fluoride in local water supply

ALBANY, GA -- Many viewers asked in our Facebook story of the day, about how much fluoride goes into our local water supply.
The truth is--not that much.
Lori Farkas with Water, Gas and Light says they only add 0.8% per million gallons.
The recommended amount is between 0.7% and 0.9%.
“And of course the fluoride is something that the federal government mandates so that we have less cavities. And I think dentists will say that's true,” says Farkas.
Fluoride is also found in toothpaste, mouth wash, even salt and canned soup among other foods.
