ALBANY, GA -- It's been a rough start of the semester for the Technical College System of Georgia.

After years of record enrollment numbers for this semester are down more than 12 percent system wide.

But that's not the case at Albany Tech one of two colleges to actually see growth this semester. They're up about five percent.

“I think in our community in particular people are still having a difficult time finding jobs, even though there is structural unemployment where there are some jobs there but the people looking for jobs don't have the skills, so I think that is another reason why we are still continuing to grow,” said Pamela Heglar, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.

Enrollment is also up at Southwest Georgia Tech in Thomasville. But enrollment is down 14 percent at Moultrie Tech and 16 percent at South Georgia Tech in Americus.
