ALBANY, GA -- Dougherty County employees who drive county vehicles will soon be held more accountable.

The county is considering a motor vehicle records policy that will mandate employees to notify supervisors when their license is suspended or revoked.

Currently, supervisors may not find out about a situation with their drivers until their records check every January.

“Currently we have an honor system and that hasn't worked as effectively. So this policy statement puts the responsibility on the employee,” says Assistant County Administrator Michael McCoy.

If employees do not abide by the new policy, disciplinary action will be taken.
