ALBANY, GA -- Students at Albany State University welcomed Joel Wernick Thursday morning.

The CEO and President of Phoebe Putney Hospital wanted to talk to them about his life experiences. But he wasn't talking to medical or nursing students. He was speaking to the college of business.

Wernick said he wanted to instill two takeaways for the students in attendance.

“One is never quit being a student. You have to be a student of your profession. The other is to learn the value of servant leadership. To serve others is the best way to be a leader. Those are probably the two biggest takeaways,” said Wernick.

Wernick also talked to the students about the challenges facing the health care industry.
