ALBANY, GA -- An Albany man announced Monday he plans on running for Ward 2 commissioner.

Ivey Hines serves as a pastor in Albany and also works at the marine base.

Hines's desire is to help people in the community, particularly the youth.

He believes he can accomplish this as the next city commissioner.

“I think that crime would be minimized based upon education and economic empowerment that would provide safety in our community because oftentimes crime is based upon what I do not have that I want,” says Hines.

Qualifying begins Wednesday and runs through Friday until noon.
