ALBANY, GA -- On the day before the tenth anniversary of September 11th people in Albany paid tribute. It happened this evening at the Field of Flags in front of the Albany Mall.

The American Legion Post 30 put on the program honoring service members and emergency responders.

“Over 3,000 people lost their lives and then all the firefighters that were in the towers when it collapsed. We're trying to show our appreciation for everything that they do. Our firefighters already risk their lives everyday saving people. We're just concerned that they don't get lost in the shuffle of things,” said Ray Humphrey, commander of the American Legion Post 30.

This is the ninth year of the Field of Flags program. They say this year's was one of their biggest ever turnouts.
