Seminar to encompass minimum wage, overtime and other topics

ATLANTA, GA -- The Georgia Department of Labor's (GDOL) Cairo/Grady County Employer Committee and the Cairo Career Center will co-sponsor a seminar for employers on wage and hour laws in the workplace. It will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Roddenbery Memorial Library, located at 320 North Broad St. in Cairo.

Warren Williams of Moultrie, a 12-year veteran investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division in Albany, will conduct the seminar. Among the topics to be discussed include: the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), minimum wage and overtime rules and exemptions to those rules, and child labor laws. The fee for the seminar is $15 and $10 for each additional attendee from the same organization.

Employer committees are groups of local business representatives who establish and maintain working relationships between employers and GDOL career centers.

For more information about the seminar, or to register, contact Debra Hancock at the GDOL's Cairo Career Center at (229) 377-6526, or e-mail debra.hancock@dol.state.ga.us
