ALBANY, GA. -- Officials say they are on track with repairs for the Broad Avenue bridge.

The bridge was closed for safety reasons.

Since then, the bridge has been examined for erosion and surveyed to see how updates would affect wildlife.

Reconstruction of the bridge has been pushed back, but officials say they're hoping for a start day sometime this year.

“The bridge is under design. The consultant for the Department of Transportation is working on the plans,” said Albany Director of Engineering Bruce Mables, “They’ll be submitting the plans to the DOT for review and hopefully get a final approval. Right now they are still on track for leading the project in December.”

The bridge was officially closed in February of 2009.
