ALBANY, GA -- East Albany’s new Family Empowerment Center is now open for business.

Founders, Travis and Bridgett Mack, and volunteers held a ribbon cutting Saturday morning at the center on 2200 East Oglethorpe. City Commissioner Jon Howard was also on hand.

The center aims to help kids and their families by using the arts and entertainment. They also want to start a rehab program for youth in trouble with the law.

“That same energy that you use to go out there and pretty much commit a crime or something like that, we can get that energy, turn it around and use that same brain power that you used to plan for that to commit that crime, we can take that same brain power for something positive,” said Travis Mack.

The center is still looking for volunteers and donations to purchase computer equipment and furniture.
