ALBANY, GA. -- On Thursday night Strive to Thrive held a dinner to bring families together.

The non-profit organization sits under the umbrella of the Albany Chamber of Commerce. The goal is to bring families into a training program and teach them how to attain upward mobility and financial independence.

Once the 16 week training session is over, the families are paired with life coaches to help them attain their goals.

The director of the program says so far the program is working.

“We've already seen phenomenal success that occurs when you have motivated individuals that have access to the resources and reasons necessary to get out of poverty,” said Strive to Thrive Director Ausha Jackson.

Jackson says the families are looking for a hand up, not a hand out. She says this programs aims to help them attain it.
