ALBANY, GA -- Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Director Yvette Aehle asked city commissioners to approve whatever funding may come down through the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA has not announced an amount yet- they are still waiting for approval from Washington.

The request for approval is a time-saving tactic for Aehle, allowing her to go ahead with the bid process the minute the FAA approves an amount.

“Usually it takes them at least a month to get it through the City Commission and the Aviation Commission, so since I don't know when they're gonna call me and when they're going to give their money out, I needed to go ahead and do this to make sure we'd be able to meet our time obligations,” said Aehle.

Aehle hopes to know an amount by September.
