Some transitional houses for homeless families are receiving a fresh coat of paint
ALBANY, GA -- Some transitional houses for homeless families are being freshened up thanks to a federal grant.
A program through Albany’s Department of Community and Economic Development was the only one selected in Georgia for the 2011 Color Care Across America Program. Transitional houses used for the program to get people back to being self-efficient will receive a new coat of paint on the interiors.
“A lot of times when you're in a homeless facility, those facilities are thought of not being well kept, but if you can put new paint on the walls, it's amazing how you can brighten up the facility really make it look nice and for being a temporary facility you can make it look like home,” says DCED Director Latoya Cutts.
The project is expected to be completed the week of Sept. 19.
