ALBANY, GA -- County commissioners voted to approve new district lines in their meeting Monday--and they're not much different than last year's.

The new map will be presented to the Dougherty County School Board for a vote, then will be presented to the Georgia General Assembly.

If they approve it, the Justice Department will then take a look at it for pre-clearance under the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

“The Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department looks at the plans and makes a determination as to whether or not they're discriminatory in effect,” says County Attorney Spencer Lee.

The school board meets next Monday, August 7th.

The Georgia General Assembly will meet the 15th.
