Updated with video; Update partially funded by RICO money

ALBANY, GA -- The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Department has redesigned the color scheme on their cruisers, updating the design for the first time in more than two decades, and making their 30-vehicle fleet match their new uniforms.

"This is a proactive scheme and we had a committee put together and we looked over all various types of schemes from around the country, and this is the one the committee voted on unanimously,” said Sheriff Kevin Sproul. “We had been wanting to change the color of our cars to kind of coordinate that with the uniforms.”

Sheriffs received new uniforms earlier this year. The scheme also features a new logo.

The redesign, Sproul said, will be partially funded by money seized from criminal activity, also known as RICO funds.

Nine cruisers will be updated this year with the rest of the department’s fleet being updated over the next two years.
