Updated with video; Mosquito populations are down due to drought

ALBANY, GA -- They're a pest...but a pest we've been lucky enough not to have seen lately!

Mosquitoes usually can be found everywhere this time of year, but officials say that because of the drought, we're not seeing many.

Still, when you do see them, it's best you take the necessary precautions.

“You don't want to have any standing water around your home, in any buckets or tires, make sure you clean your bird baths. Protect yourself with some kind of deet, when being outside,” said Donell Mathis with the Dougherty County Public Works.

Mathis says to also wear long sleeves and long pants even in the summer time.
