Haven of Hope officially opens its doors to domestic and sexual abuse victims looking for help and support
ALBANY, GA -- Their ribbon cutting was in October but on Wednesday, Haven of Hope officially opened their doors to victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
The center offers a safe house for those who need to get out of a tough situation immediately. Haven of Hope also helps with transitional home care and provides tools to help them get a job including job training and interview techniques.
To help with services like these, Founder and Director Kathia Collins says she needs help and donations from the community.
“We're looking for a hood support system, we're in need of a television right now for the safe house and we just have a few household, non-perishable items, whatever anyone has to give,” says Collins.
Haven of Hope also works with PAWS: Pets and Women Shelter. She says some women don’t leave abusive relationships because of pets in the family, which is why PAWS was established.
Collins says she is bilingual so she hopes to help Hispanic women and children who have become victims of abuse because she says all races experience violence.
