ALBANY, GA -- An investigation has been launched after the body of a newborn baby was found stuffed in a trash can.

Officers were called out to a home in the 200 block of Collins Street. When they got there they found the infant in a trash bin outside the house.

“The coroner did recover the body of the child. It was a girl. And I am not certain of the particular age of the child, but from my own lay observation the child appeared to be a premature child,” said Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards.

No arrests have yet to be made but police are question witnesses and the baby's mother.
