ALBANY, GA -- The Southwest Georgia Civil Rights Reunion continued Thursday morning at Albany State University.

Thursday's portion of the conference focused on the past, and the struggles many African Americans faced during the civil rights movement.

For those involved and in attendance, it's always important to reflect.

“It absolutely is an important part of who they are and I think that when you go through something that traumatic, and it was traumatic, that it changes you for life. It doesn't just change you for that moment. I think that the things that they went trough have definitely shaped who they are today,” said Daaiyah Salaam, who help organize the event.

The Civil Rights reunion continues throughout the weekend, with seminars focusing on present day issues affecting African Americans and how to get over those struggles.
