Southwest Georgia women united on Friday to help build a home for a deserving family for the Women Build event

ALBANY, GA -- Southwest Georgia women united on Friday to help build a home for a deserving family in the community as a part of Habitat for Humanity's annual Women Build event. Women from Habitat for Humanity, Open Arms and even SunTrust Bank came out to help with the project in the Woodland Oaks Subdivision.

What started as sheet rock walls at 8 a.m. turned into clean, white walls by 4 this afternoon.

"It's the women's day to show the men that, 'Oh we can get in there and do the dirty work as well,'" says Tiffany Mallard of Open Arms, who was busy painting throughout Friday.

A mother and daughter will be receiving the house when it is completed.

The project will continue through Saturday as the group finishes painting the outside of the house and placing tile floors on the inside.
