County needs to slash over 2 million in costs.

ALBANY, GA -- The Lee County Board of Commissioners said they're trying to slash the 2011/2012 fiscal budget.

The projected revenue is set at $20 million, while the expenses are well over $22 million. The board has to cut $2 million by May 12, 2011.

In the meeting on Tuesday, the budget for the Lee County Tax Commission took a nosedive. It was cut by over $50,000.  They plan to cut as much as possible.

"We just meet with each department head and go through their budget line by line and just cut wherever we can," said Lee County Commissioner Bill Williams,"and hopefully, you know, we can be able to make up for this $2 million difference."

The county commission will hold budget session until the budget is finalized on Thursday, May 12.
