ALBANY, GA -- Now that most people have finished their taxes it's time to dispose of all that sensitive paperwork.

And folks had a chance to do just that Saturday. Heritage Bank teamed up with Shred-Ex to give a free day of paper shredding.

Hundreds of people showed up.

They say it's important to properly get rid of anything that has your personal information on it.

“Dumpster diving is still the number one way bad guys use to get your information,” said Heather Nichols of Heritage Bank. “Anything that has your name, your address, they can use that to open credit cards in your name, to open other accounts in your name and you have to be careful because that is identity theft.”

Officials say all the shredded paper will be recycled.
