Gas is expensive but pedaling is free. Ride a bike!
ALBANY, GA -- Spring and summer means warmer temperatures but it also means higher gas prices for your car. As gas prices climb higher why not hang up the gas pump and pump up those tires on your bicycle to save some cash the environment and get some exercise at the same time.
You see even parking that car just a few days a week can make a big difference.
It’s estimated that half the people in this country live within 5 miles of their work and if they left their car at home just one day a week close to 5 million tons emissions would be averted every year, the same effect as taking about a million cars off the roads.
Riding your bike is not only good for your bottom-line it can be great for your waistline too!
If you already have a bicycle the first thing to do is make sure it’s in good running condition before you put it in service for your daily commute. If you are buying new, there are many things to consider including price. Unless you are riding more than 20 miles per day I recommend a less expensive bike to start.
There are other important item you may need to make you bike riding more enjoyable including a helmet and a lock to keep that bike secure.
Riding your bike for even a short daily commute to work could save you hundreds in gas per month and even more per year. Putting money back in your pocket while helping to keep you and the environment happy and healthy is as easy as riding a bike.
