ALBANY, GA -- On the last day of Black History Month Albany State university played a film for students, showcasing the Civil Rights movement in Albany.

The movie was 'Eyes on the Prize.' The portion about Albany was part of an eight episode mini-series originally shown in 1987.

School officials say they hope the movie will serve as an inspiration to the students who see it.

“It only takes a few minutes for a light bulb to come on and that they realize how important it is that they pay attention and that they understand what is going on around them. You have to know the past before you know the present and soar toward a better future,” said Dr. Racquel Henry.

Former NAACP chairman Julian Bond is the narrator of the film. ASU says they hope to have Mr. Bond come speak in person, later this year.
