Students urged to get education, succeed

ALBANY, GA. -- Lee County High School held its tribute to Black History Month on Friday.

Students were treated to music from the Black History Choir and performances from the Lee County High School Dance class.

Speakers Geraldine Hudley and Dr. John Culbreath stressed the importance of education in keeping the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. alive.

“My parents grew up in the South their whole life so they’ve seen the change from the beginning to what we have now,” said senior Darius Johnson.

Several students read selected quotes from King’s life reflecting the struggle to gain civil rights for African Americans.
