President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn tour the new medical campus

AMERICUS, GA. -- President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn got a personal tour of Phoebe Sumter’s new medical campus Friday.

The Carters toured the three support buildings and were able to get a view of the new hospital, which is currently under construction.

Carter is a Sumter County native who once served on the hospital board.
