P.C.B. official says beaches are clean, safe

ALBANY, GA -- Members of the Dougherty County Rotary hoping for a trip to Panama City Beach got some good news today.

Dan Rowe of the Panama City Convention and Visitors Bureau spoke to the group today.

Rowe said the beaches are clean and the water shows very little remnants of last year’s Gulf oil spill.

"The folks who came down last summer – even at the height of the spill found that the impacts to their vacation were minimal and this year, they’ll be – it’s just like it was prior to April," said Rowe.

Panama City and other beaches along the Gulf coast were hit especially hard by the drop in tourism after last year’s oil spill.
