Philema Road Baptist Church has a flag display to demonstrate the number of daily abortions

LEESBURG, GA. -- Philema Road Baptist Church kicked off their second annual pro-life awareness campaign Sunday with a mock funeral for an unborn baby.

After the funeral about a dozen church members planted 3,300 pink and blue flags in front of the church to bring awareness that roughly the same number of abortions are carried out in the United States every day.

Donna Murphy says the campaign isn’t meant to offend or shock people – it’s about getting people to have a true discussion on abortion.  “We have a ministry to support women who may be in need of help.  One of the most important things is to let the mothers that have had abortions know that there is healing and there is forgiveness and that the church is here with open arms to love you and help you if you need counseling” says Murphy.

The church is planning to host a silent stand in downtown Albany every three months to continue to raise pro-life awareness in Southwest Georgia.
