Deerfield-Windsor hosts a last chance state qualifying swim meet at ASU
ALBANY, GA. -- Deerfield-Windsor’s swim team hosted 250 swimmers from across Georgia at Albany State University’s indoor pool.
Deerfield’s swim coach Lorraine Withers says the meet is one of the most important meets of the year because it is the last opportunity Georgia Independent School Association swimmers have to qualify for the state championship. Deerfield-Windsor senior Beau Sinyard says the team is excited about the opportunity to show off in their home town. “We work our butts off every week three nights a week. We train hard. We come out here and enjoy every second of it because we love to swim and we’re a really close team. Plus we enjoy the support of the community” says Sinyard.
In 2006 Deerfield started a swim team with just 11 swimmers, now the girls are ranked among the top teams in Georgia and the boys are undefeated.
