Plan based on recommendations of regional councils

ALBANY, GA -- Thursdays’ Economic Outlook Program also addressed the issue of water shortages and their effect on local farmers.

The state of Georgia is expected to release its final plan for water conservation very soon.

It will include strategies to help the agriculture industry save water and increase profits.

"The more efficient farmers are with their water, the more money’s in their pocket so certainly there’s not a wanton waste of water on agriculture’s part," said Mark Masters of Albany State University.

The statewide plan will be based on the recommendations of ten regional water councils.
