A workshop aims to teach parents about what they can/cannot do to discipline their children
ALBANY, GA. -- Project Shield is planning a workshop to teach parents about their rights when it comes to disciplining their children.
The class is called “The 3 R’s of Effective Parenting” and will focus on respect, responsibility, and rights.
Presentations will be given by officials from the Department of Family and Children Services, the District Attorney’s Office, the Dougherty County School System, and local ministers. Project Shield Coordinator Reverend E. B. Bankston says they wanted to have a multi-agency approach in order to show how many organizations have to get involved when serious family issues occur. “It’s important to bring them all in because you’re going to get a different perspective from each agency. That’s the significance. Each agency specializes in one area and will be able to answer questions and give detailed information” says Bankston.
The free workshop will be held Saturday December 4, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Turner Elementary School.
