Police say Denezious Thomas ran/struggled with them

ALBANY, GA -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says an Albany man that died in the custody of Dougherty County Police may have been tased more than once.

But investigators have not yet received the results of Thomas's autopsy.

Police say they tried to pull over 36-year-old Denezious Thomas around 2:00 Tuesday morning.

Thomas crashed his car at the intersection of Jeffries Avenue and Sunny Lane after a short chase.

He reportedly struggled with officers and was tased.

The GBI says autopsy results indicate that Thomas died from ingesting a large amount of cocaine prior to being taken into custody.
