The nationwide campaign kicked off Monday

ALBANY, GA -- The national Click it or Ticket campaign kicked off Monday and is now in full swing.

Dougherty County Police say 9 out of 10 Georgians buckle up, but they are working to make sure everyone wears seat belts. The campaign lasts through November 28th because Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest times on the roadways.

DCP officer Lt. Tom Jackson says the decision to not buckle up can be deadly. “Any death for not wearing your seatbelt, honestly, all it takes is a simple click to save your life. So why not do something that could enhance your chance of living on roadways,” says Jackson.

Officials are hoping for a successful campaign that will cause more people to buckle up.
