ATLANTA (AP) -- The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning drivers in south Georgia that visibility may be limited in some areas because of smoke and fog from a wildfire.

GDOT says the Arabia Swamp fire is located in Clinch County. Heavy smoke from the fire and shifting winds are causing periodic reduced visibility on highways throughout the area.

GDOT says the conditions will likely continue through this week and possibly longer.

Other counties that may be affected are Lanier, Lowndes, Cook, Berrien, Irwin, Atkinson, Ben Hill, Ware, Charlton, Bacon, Jeff Davis, Telfair and possibly others.

GDOT says drivers should be prepared for possible long delays, unscheduled road closures and detours.

GDOT suggests that travelers call 511 or visit 511ga.org for updated information about this or any other issues with interstates and state routes.
