ALBANY, GA -- A new website could better prepare Albany residents in case of a major flood like the one in 1994.

Workers from the US Geological Survey came to Albany, to show city and county authorities new technology.

Through the USGS web site, emergency management officials and regular citizens can check real time water levels of the Flint River and city streets.

“With this new technology that's being provided now, we can tell how much water is coming, when it is coming and we can anticipate movement of people to save lives and people have an advanced warning,” said Albany Mayor Willie Adams.
