People can receive flu vaccine without leaving their vehicle

ALBANY, GA -- There’s at least one drive thru in town with a menu meant for promoting good health.

The Dougherty County Health Department held a drive thru clinic offering flu vaccinations at Robert Cross Middle School on Thursday.

For $25.00, the public could pull up, stick out their arms, and receive their flu shot without ever leaving their vehicles.

Officials were pleased with the turnout but said there was also another purpose in opening the clinic.

“We’re also using this as an opportunity to test our own capability to react in the time of a disaster where we would have to give a lot of immunizations or other type of medication to the public," said Vamella Lovett of the Dougherty County Health Department.

This year’s flu shots also protect against H1N1 and A-H3N2.
