ALBANY, GA -- The Albany Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony today for a new mentoring program.

The Service Corps of Retired Executives has made its way to Albany and will soon be helping entrepreneurs. There are about 365 SCORE offices nationwide, however this is the only one in Georgia south of Columbus. All SCORE counselors are volunteers and certified.

Counselor Leland Burkart says Albany will soon have a total of 7 mentors to help business owners with any problem. “Simple things like where to get your license are you zoned for the business you want to start. There are a lot of things out there people don’t know, they have knowledge in their business they would like to begin but they really don’t know how to get started,” says Burkart.

And while the title says ‘retired executives,’ counselors say their doors are open to all ages. The program kicks of Monday October 4th.
