Officials talk to kids about being healthy
ALBANY, GA -- The message was clear at this year’s Kids on the Move, an event geared towards ending obesity. The event included a 5K walk-run and a one-mile fun-walk.
About 100 kids came out to this year’s event to stay fit and be healthy. Albany Recreation and Parks, Well-care, and the Marine Corps are just a few organizations taking part in the effort.
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital’s Project Coordinator Eddie McBride says they hope kids the information they learned back home. “Hopefully the parents are at home getting their kids to eat right, if not hopefully the kids are going home telling their parents how important it is to exercise and eat right” says McBride.
Officials say event like this are important because childhood obesity is a growing problem.
