Utilities has seen an increase of $14,000 this year

The County is figuring into the budget hundreds of street lights that were built in the unincorporated area.

County Public Works says they are still getting requests for more to be built. They say the residents are always thankful for them, saying they help deter crime.

“There are several goals that the Commission as a whole had passed down to staff for the special tax district to put more street lights in the unincorporated area and of course at night street lights are very helpful during bad weather and rainy weather so street lights are very helpful so it's a quality of life thing,” Said Dougherty County Administrator, Richard Crowdis.

Street lights are included under utilities on the budget, which has seen an increase of $14,000 this year.
