The warehouse was closed for the holiday weekend
A warehouse building at the Equinox Chemical Plant catches fire Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters and hazmat teams got the call a little after 3:00 p.m. It took them 40 minutes to get the fire contained. Fire Chief James Carswell says one firefighter had to be transported to Phoebe Putney due to the heat and smoke. Officials say the fire was isolated to a corner in the warehouse building that spread to some insulation, but nothing toxic was in the building.
“Looks like mainly smoke damage. We were shut down for the weekend and so nobody was here at the time. We're just thankful no one was here and no one got hurt,” says plant owner, Mark Grimaldi
Equinox is expected to open Monday.
